Take Part

The Basics

Want to take part? The information below is for the 2024 festival. We aren’t planning any radical changes for 2025, but we will update this properly (including deadlines etc) before we start taking applications in January 2025.

The dates of the 2025 festival will be 28th July – 24th August.

There is a minimum charge of £5 per ticket (we don’t do free shows) and a cap of £20 per ticket.

It is free to apply but there is a charge for participating as part of the Camden Fringe.

The Camden Fringe will provide marketing support for the festival as a whole. Each show will have a page on this website and tickets for all shows will be available to purchase through it. The Camden Fringe takes a cut of 6% of all tickets sold through our site.

Applications

To apply to the Camden Fringe you need to create a simple account on Eventotron for your show and then select our festival to apply to.

To take part you’ll need to fill in further information about your event and select which venues you’d like to apply to. We have a number of fantastic venues lined-up to be part of the Camden Fringe.

You can also seek out your own space to perform in within the borough of Camden. We are happy to include non-theatre venues or outdoor spaces that can be utilized for performances. If you want to perform at a venue that isn’t on our list and have booked that independently drop us an email on camdenfringe@gmail.com so we can add your venue and include your performances.

For guidance and assistance on using Eventotron please visit the Eventotron Knowledge Base.

You can apply to up to 5 venues via Eventotron. Please try and pick those that are most appropriate for your show – pay attention to the size of the performance space, the equipment and the style of show that the venue specialises in.

Each venue programmes its own events and sets its own deals/hire rates, make sure you are fully aware of the deal you are agreeing to. Be proactive about chasing up the venue(s) you are interested in by email.

Some venues start programming in January and prime slots will get booked up early, so don’t delay in applying. Please make sure you apply to venues by the 30th of April 2024. The deadline to confirm your venue and complete your registration is the 17th of May 2024.

Promoting your show

We recommend thinking about your marketing early, so it’s not forgotten about in the midst of rehearsal and production work. We need you to have all this information locked down by the 17th of May.

Being part of the Camden Fringe doesn’t automatically sell you tickets. We can’t guarantee you an audience for your show – it’s up to you to market and promote it, as you know better than anyone else what it is that makes your show brilliant and unique.

We will provide you with plenty of advice on the best way to do this, but be aware now that there aren’t any sneaky shortcuts to success: you will have to work hard. There will be many other shows in the Camden Fringe for audiences to choose from and your show needs to stand out.

We will make a press list available to participants, so you can try to get some online reviews or media coverage for your piece. You’ll be able to monitor your ticket sales through Eventotron.
