The Bride
Yu Ai
A haunting dance theatre work blending movement, ritual and cinematic storytelling.
The Bride follows Er’er, a young woman returning to her mother’s hidden ancestral home on Silkworm Island after her death. Through weaving, ritual dance and visceral physical performance, she begins to unravel the forces that have shaped her body, her memory, and her sense of self.
Visually striking and emotionally charged, the piece moves between dream and reality, drawing on film language to create an immersive stage world. As past and present collide, Er’er is faced with a question: how do we break from what we inherit, and what does it mean to truly become ourselves?
