Can we say something
Chén Yin & Qi Song
Two women.
A pile of potatoes.
Eating and dancing.
No one is listening.
Can We Say Something begins with a simple action: eating potatoes. Repeated gestures gradually accumulate into a physical dialogue. Potatoes enter the stage as material presences – held, thrown, passed, piled, and eaten, their weight and resistance shaping rhythm, tempo, and relation.
Breath, chewing, and trembling form the underlying rhythm. Movement shifts between everyday gestures and states of high physical and emotional intensity. Through accumulation and endurance, the performers search for a way out of silence: when language is ignored, can the body still speak?
