Unpacked
Barış Arman
Unpacked is an intimate one-to-one audio performance about the body, identity and freedom. Sitting at a table and wearing headphones, one audience member follows a series of simple instructions and encounters objects hidden inside a box. As the performance unfolds, the objects begin to form a fragmented body. The work asks whether we can leave the body behind, and what might remain of us if we do.
The performance is unusual because it is quiet, personal and created for only one audience member at a time. There is no spoken text from the performer and no traditional stage action. Instead, sound, touch, objects and the audience member’s own choices create the experience. Unpacked turns the table into a small laboratory where the audience can explore embodiment and absence.
*Unpacked was created with the support of the Gülriz Sururi – Engin Cezzar Theatre Incentive Award, presented by İKSV.
