Stunted

Double Fang Stories

When the person you lean on becomes the person you have to leave behind.

A 60-minute two-hander, Stunted follows two housemates who could not be more different—yet somehow, are deeply entwined. What begins as a familiar domestic rhythm reveals itself as something far more fragile: a codependent bond stretched to its breaking point. As one ordinary daybreak unfolds, buried tensions surface and the unspoken rules of their relationship begin to collapse.

With humor, tenderness, and bite, the play explores friendship, queerness, womanhood, sexuality, and the relentless mental chatter that accompanies the uneasy transition from our twenties into our thirties. Stunted captures the intimacy of shared space—and the courage it takes to finally step out of it.

Christine Fang is a New York-based actor and playwright. Her first play, a solo show exploring themes of filial piety and bullying, was produced in association with East West Players and received its London premiere at the Barons Court Theatre as part of the Voila! Theatre Festival. Stunted marks her first two-hander and was developed with the support of Primary Stages in New York, an Off-Broadway company dedicated to inspiring and producing new work.
