This Could’ve Gone Better
Aimee Gebhard
"AND WHERE IS ALL THE ICE-CREAM?!"
After getting stuck in a supermarket freezer during a pitiful attempt to steal ice-cream, a nameless woman is forced to come to terms with the disappointments, losses, dreams and hopes of her lacklustre existence. Quite quickly, it emerges that this woman is a walking failure; little desire, no ambition, a life of missed opportunity. Through anecdotes, poetry, dark comedy, and a complicated relationship with a freezer-wall, the complexities of a twenty-first century existence crash-down in haunting waves of grief and fantasy.
‘This Could’ve Gone Better’ is a 6o-minute, dark-comedy monologue that explores the seemingly fleeting moments of a young woman’s life.
What is it like to be promised the world and receive nothing?
What is it like to dream only to wake up?
How do you mourn a life dying right in front of your eyes?
Join the young woman as she barely-copes, complains, and deludes herself from reality at a time when hiding from the truth could be devastating.
