Asian Girls In Therapy

Asian Girls In Therapy

The Hope Theatre

The hilariously depressing tug-of-war with yourself and... your therapist.

Awkward Kiran and feisty Cheon are the embodiment of a K-pop and Bollywood fusion of joy, heartbreak, humour and depression. We follow the therapy journey of our protagonists, seeing them face their deepest demons, desires and depressive episodes in the form of diary entries and therapy sessions with eccentric Dr. Sarah. Tinged with a sardonic zest, the girls are seen to convey their emotions through humour and a rawness that whilst uncomfortable is also high-key relatable. Kiran and Cheon's simultaneous experience taking place before the audience, makes their individual dilemmas find an interweaving pattern- echoing the message of not being alone in our mental health struggles.

"Insomnia is a bitch and so is my brain." Cheon

"I can't believe I had to break up with my break-up-puppy." Kiran
