One day, a woman suddenly longs to escape from her own flesh, and soon, her body undergoes a series of strange transformations - from struggle to growth, from torn flesh to spreading branches. However, is this a rebirth, or another cycle of cruelty?
“Shedwood” is a inter-media physical theatre that combines choreography, installation, video and sound. Inspired by newly awarded Nobel Prize winner Han Kang's feminist novel “The Vegetarian”, “Shedwood” explores the plight of women in a patriarchal society and their struggle for body autonomy.
From Central Saint Martins to Camden Fringe, young theatre makers will combine physical performance with inventive wearable installations and surrealist scenography, to present an a violent aesthetic—gentle as a surgery, yet as sharp as a lancet.
