Rip Current
Ti Ti & Xinyu Lu&Tianyi Wu&Yike Yao&Kej Kim

Rip Current is a powerful new work of experimental puppetry and physical theatre, delving into the rich, often overwhelming sensory experiences of individuals who experience the world through the lens of neurodiversity.
Taking inspiration from the natural phenomenon of a rip current, a calm surface concealing powerful and invisible undertows, the piece becomes a vivid metaphor for the hidden emotional and perceptual landscapes experienced by neurodivergent individuals. Through object-based movement and visual storytelling, Rip Current invites audiences into a space where stillness hides turbulence, and where the search for truth pulls us away from the safety of social conformity.
Crafted from recycled everyday objects, such as plastic bottles, fabric, paper, the puppets embody reinvention, transforming the overlooked into something alive, expressive, and deeply human.
Rooted in both lived experience and dark fable, this production blurs the line between reality and metaphor. It challenges perceptions of what is “normal,” offering a bold, immersive journey into the richly textured, often misunderstood world of neurodivergence.
Rip Current is not just a representation. It’s an invitation to step into another way of seeing, feeling, and belonging.
